For those that have been keeping up with our Facebook Posts … you would be fairly up to date on what we are up to. Those that have not please go on to this page and ‘like’ it… so you get to see things as they happen.

Most of our activities are happening in the area of Sports… and we are blessed to have BLK Sport, Shoe Clinic and the two Rotarys (Auckland East and Epsom) on board. Both of the boys at St Kentigern’s College are fully kitted out with running shoes, rugby boots and training gear from our sponsors… and of course food from New World Eastridge.

Nathanael Laufiso

This is our Randwick Park Student from 2014 who received a scholarship to attend St Kentigern College. Academically he is doing great and the school is very happy with his progress. Rugby… well he was doing well until last weekend when he broke a bone in his leg. I popped around to his place and gave him some muesli bars, cereal and milk and he is of high spirits but concerned that he had let us down. I put him right on this area.

Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta

This is the Year 12 boy from Te Araroa (By Hicks Bay) that St Kentigern’s asked us to take on board like we are with Nathanael. ‘Waru’ is playing in the first XV, and has already been selected in the Hurricanes Under 18 team. His mother, Vicky, has started up a Breakfast Club in Te Araroa. Waru received his first school report from St Kentigern’s this week, and considering that he has come from a full immersion school on the East Coast of NZ to a Decile 10 Private School in Auckland, he has done tremendously well.

Glen Innes School

With the assistance of BLK Sport and our two Rotary’s every child in Years 7 & 8 were given two BLK Polo Shirts screen printed. Immediately the students received these shirts the school noticed a change in their behaviour and how proud they are wearing their uniform. Attendance at this school is close to 100% with the Senior Students. There was a competition with each class in this school on who can reach 100% attendance… this competition has now ceased as the Senior Children were winning it each week.

Kapa Haka

We have started Kapa Haka at both Glen Taylor School and Glen Brae School from the beginning of Term 3, thanks to David Tomoana (Head of Security at the BNZ). We are arranging for Tiahas and Potu’s to be carved in Rotorua for these children.

Vodafone Warriors

The Warriors have just completed their visitation to Randwick Park School and have now started at Glen Innes, Glen Taylor and Glen Brae Schools. There are a lot of very excited children who could never have thought they would be so close to their idols. The Warriors are at these schools for 4 days leading up to a tournament that the children arrange. All of the equipment and gear required is supplied by the Vodafone Warriors.

Silver Fern Netball

BLK Sport are now the uniform Sponsor of the Silver Ferns. The CEO of this Company, Peter Rakich contacted me and offered 10 VIP tickets to watch the Silver Ferns v South Africa. We took a group from Randwick Park School, hand picked on their attitude towards school and netball. This night was clearly the highlight of their lives. They were all so excited it only took them minutes before they were leading the chants in the Trust Stadium. Just when we thought nothing could match what BLK had done for these girls, we got a text during the game from the CEO of BLK Sports asking for the sizing of each of our girls, as he wanted to send them Silver Fern Shirts. This response from their teacher says it all:

Awesome news! The kids will be totally over the moon. I didn’t think it was possible to add to what was already a perfect night. The kids really appreciated the opportunity as their families just don’t have the funds nor transport. Highlight of their netball season and they weren’t even playing:-) Thanks Steve and a massive thanks to BLK for making dreams come true.
