I was hoping for a bit of a lull in happenings around Breakfast Club … but it appears that my car, home and thoughts are being bugged … and time after time what I have been thinking for … gets answered.
– New World’s credits have been at least 25 banana boxes each week … which has enabled us to give out emergency food parcels to ten different families, in the past 3 weeks that have approached our Food Bank Manager for help. So far we have not had to turn any request for food away.
– Breakfast Club numbers have shrunk this year, which can only be good news. We are averaging about 30 children a day, down from the 50 in 2012. We do however have a lot of our past students coming in for Milo’s. My personal dream was to turn our Breakfast Club into a Milo Club … it has started to happen.
– St Kentigern College donated 30 stationary packs for new entrants and also 57 Adidas rugby jerseys for the Sports Academy. Their first fifteen Coach has agreed along with three of his students to commence coaching our Sports Academy Rugby team from the 9th of April onwards at Randwick Park School. The St Kentigern College netball coach (and players) has also agreed to commence coaching our Sports Academy Netball team from the same dates at their College.
– Kensington Swan Solicitors in Auckland City has donated three commercial grade printers to Breakfast Club. New these printers are worth in excess of $1000 each.
– New World has agreed to be the principal sponsor of the 2013 Head 2 Head walk around Manukau Harbour. Already we have had 10 teams to commit to this walk. Discussions are underway for Breakfast Club to share this sponsorship with another Manurewa Primary School and one in Glen Innes to enable them to have CrackerJack Kids programme installed in their schools.
– Rotary Epsom ran a Lawn Bowls tournament and invited in excess of 27 teams. Breakfast Club had one our students, Franklyn Samuels, in the Barfoot and Thompson Remuera team and he won the bowler of the tournament. Rotary raised over $3,000.00 for our Sports Academy. Thank-you Felicity Oberlin-Brown and Nana Kay for coming to support this evening, and of course, Rotary, for your generosity.
– We answered a public (via Facebook) offer from Hellers Smallgoods for Charities to send in applications for sausages. This week they advised us that our request had been approved and they were donating to Randwick Park School 300 sausages.
– In November 2012 we applied to Z Fuel Manurewa to be considered as one of their four Charities to be part of their Good in the Hood Donations in March 2013. So far Breakfast Club is leading the four Charities at this Station that puts us in line for $1000 donation.
